Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his position following a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
