Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The effort hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of musicians appearing on Lullaby features a range of acclaimed names from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The track features a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the initiative have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative said. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the area was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
