Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events this season because of the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering again next season.

She required blood pressure checks in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
