The latest Far Cry title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for delighting in chaos and mayhem with similar excitement, all while telling gripping, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose projects have represented all of those elements.
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a different backdrop and ensemble in each season.
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the core of humanity through this multifaceted and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
