Iconic Singer Barry Manilow to Undergo an Operation for Lung Cancer.

The singer has disclosed that he received a diagnosis with lung cancer and will be having an operation.

Cancer Caught Early

The legendary 82-year-old artist, whose parade of upbeat chart-toppers from "Copacabana" has made him one of pop music’s enduringly popular performers, will have surgery to take out a section of lung tissue in an effort to treat the illness, which is at an early phase.

ā€œFor those who have been following, I recently suffered from six weeks of a severe cough followed by a return of another five weeks.

ā€œDespite the fact that I was over the bronchitis and performing again in Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor insisted on an MRI just to make sure that there were no issues.

ā€œThe MRI discovered a malignant lesion on my left lung that must be removed. It’s sheer fortune (and a skilled doctor) that it was discovered so early.ā€

Postponed Performances

He has delayed a series of upcoming concerts, but suggested he would be on stage again by the February holiday for his longstanding engagement in Las Vegas.

He went on to say: ā€œThe doctors do not believe it has spread and I’m undergoing further tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just home remedies and classic TV.

ā€œI’m counting the days until I rejoin my familiar venue for our Vegas run for our February love-themed shows.ā€

Decades in the Spotlight

Manilow is currently in the 16th year of a show in Nevada. The singer has enjoyed a career spanning many years in the public eye and publicly identified as gay in 2017, after tying the knot with his manager and long-term partner in secret in 2014.

The duo were in a discreet partnership for in excess of 35 years. Recently, Manilow discussed how crucial Kief had been to him during his explosion in popularity in the 1970s.

ā€œDuring my rapid rise to fame, it was just overwhelming. And, you know, coming home to an empty hotel room, you can get into a lot of difficulty if you, you know, you’re alone night after night,ā€ he said.

ā€œBut I encountered my future husband right around when it was blowing up. And I didn’t have to go back to those lonesome rooms. I had a person to share sorrows with or to enjoy success with.

ā€œI wish that young people don’t have to go back to those suites by themselves, because you get yourself in trouble. I never did. But it was quite isolating until I met Garry. And then it was joyful.ā€
