That Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Haunts Fans

Out of all the adult-oriented cartoon movies I have ever watched, nothing has stuck with me as much as the fear-filled ending of a explicitly bloody as well as overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spain-based writer-director created a dark, melancholy and often savage universe that included several minor , desolate glimmers of optimism.

While The Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a drive to advance the medium even more, the filmmaker stated that it was more an attempt to communicate a widespread, multicultural theme regarding “the shared root of all wars.”

That idea is communicated via a squad of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly modeled after a popular series of lovable characters.

Growing up in a culture focused on militarism as well as the military-industrial complex, a lot of these creatures are obsessed with exterminating unicorns, because of a holy book that tells them they previously were kings of the woods, before these creatures drove them out.

Others haven’t fully fallen for the brainwashing, and would rather try out drugs and fornicate outdoors.

Unlike their cuddly equivalents, these bright beings display genitals , definite libidos.

For a particular particularly cruel, skeptical animal, the character Bluey, the conflict with the unicorns turns into a road to control — and particularly to dominance over his softer, more compassionate sibling the character Tubby.

This bear behaves aggressively and a seeming sociopath , and as terror takes over his group and kills his comrades individually, he grabs increasingly influence on his own behalf, in increasingly gory, destructive ways.

At the same time, these mythical beings are experiencing their own horror, in the form of a growing, harmful creature in their woods.

“Initially, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “But then it evolves into a more dramatic and sad film. And by the end, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars begins resembling one of the most whimsical features by a renowned filmmaker, that uncover a mischievous joy in permitting cartoon characters swear, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Afterward it turns into something more like a bleaker work by that same creator, including ever more explicit brutality , a palpable link to genuine suffering of battle.

In the finale, it is an outright Grand Guignol massacre.

The fear which makes the film a Halloween-friendly viewing begins much sooner than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is one for the hardcore gorehounds, for fans of extreme cinema who want to view a movie they’ve never seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a story that offers absolutely no punches.

Watch it with the lights off with no disturbances, and that ending will dig deep within you and linger.
