Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked National Guard Personnel to White House

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed the press. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to assist public safety in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the individual that instructors desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the administration to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
