Two individuals are now facing charges related to a luggage theft where a substance thought to be pepper spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, authorities have stated.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.

A young child was among those injured in the event. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.

The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
